A 32-acre portion of Fairview was bought by Sustainable Development Inc. (a company separate from Sustainable Fairview Associates) in late 2004. That company says it is preparing to build its proposed Pringle Creek Community, a project featuring a mix of single-family homes and townhouses in a high-density development, by May 2006. Pringle Creek’s backers say they will follow the principals of sustainable development in a neighborhood featuring solar-powered homes, renovated buildings from the former Fairview days that will be open for community events and a restored Pringle Creek riparian area.

“A lot of developers would have put Pringle Creek in a pipe,” said Don Myers, president of Sustainable Development.

Pringle Creek Community will include 180 homes, including a variety of designs, sizes, and price ranges.

“We won’t have any `McMansions.'” Myers said, adding that some smaller homes will be built for people who want to downsize.

An open house is scheduled for Aug. 27 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the site on Strong Road SE between Reed Road and Madrona Avenue.
